Women have played an important role in the history of Rivermont Presbyterian Church. Back in 1957 when we were getting started, “Women of the Church” consisted of twelve young women, each with a job to do — all chiefs and no Indians.
We have filled many positions over the years. We taught Sunday School and ran a Vacation Bible School each summer. Hundreds of meals were prepared and served by our women, sometimes under difficult conditions. When it came to decorating the Church for Christmas and Easter, it was the women who took over that task. A history of the Church has been kept by the women from the very beginning to the present day. Each May, the women of the church have a special Birthday lunch to raise money for certain mission projects for women. Our women have also volunteered for mission trips both in this country and overseas. Being a prayer warrior is a rewarding volunteer job where a woman agrees to pray for one special child in the congregation and be his/her friend. We also help in running the church by being deacons and elders.
So you can see how valuable our women are to the success of Rivermont Church.
